Racist Disposession: Towards an Anti-colonial Environmentalism

Despojos racistas

A plea for indigenous and anti-racist struggles.

If racism had the function of legitimizing the dispossession of the global South in order to achieve the industrialization of the North during historical colonialism, we are currently witnessing this phenomenon's renewal, this time hidden in the imperative to mitigate the climate emergency and overcome the energy crisis.

As the environmental catastrophe worsens, new colonial relations are also intensifying, and with them, racist discourses are returning to the scene with much greater force. Despojos racistas dismantles the fallacies of the green transitions on which mining extractivism and the rise of mega energy projects in Latin America and other regions are built and justified.
